The Kriegsmesser was a two-handed variant of the Messer popular during the Renaissance, often associated with Landsknechts and mercenary armies. It's sometimes referred to as the "European Katana," a term that, while not entirely accurate, helps convey the idea. This imposing sword not only looks striking but also commands respect. To protect the hands, Kriegsmessers featured a large Nagel or sidering, which assisted with parrying and working in the bind. The SIGI Kriegsmesser is fully functional and ready for use in practice, sparring, tournaments, stage combat, or Renaissance fairs. They are safe, lightweight, flexible, yet offer excellent control and durability. The flex is similar to that of our feders. The handles are made from oak hardwood, showcasing a beautiful texture.
